In 2019, Refugees seeking asylum in the United States were welcomed into El Calvario Church as just one stop on their journey. While there, we provided food, shelter, clothing and basic living supplies. We also assisted in arranging travel to their sponsor families all across the US.

In 2019, we served 1770 individuals (832 families) from many different countries. Our sleeping space was often filled as we provided well over 4000 night of shelter (one person/one night) and served well over 12,000 meals.

As changes happen with US Immigration law, we will continue to provide hospitality to those seeking new homes in the US, acting within these laws.

When the number of immigrants allowed across the border declined, we started to serve immigrants on the other side of the border serving meals to those living under bridges in Juarez, offering classes in an “escuelita” to children who were homeless, and providing supplies to shelters in Juarez.
